Invitation to Conversation - 1 1/2 Minute Read
We all have principles that guide us. We may consider them values, our character, beliefs or even our mantras. We call on these principles when we have a decision to make and they guide us through times of uncertainty.
As I navigate this first year as a new principal, I know, for sure, two things:

I will rely very heavily on what I believe to be true about learners, while simultaneously remaining open to new ideas, new thinking and new perspectives.
I will rely very heavily on all of you. I hope you always find me open to conversation as I seek to understand, learn and grow with our community.
I started reading blogs three years ago as a way to get snippets of new thinking. The content of a blog sits with me throughout my day and it allows me to reflect on what's happening around me in new light. I plan to use this blog...
1. ...to CELEBRATE! We have so much to celebrate at Hillcrest! While much of our celebrating is around our learners, we have plenty to celebrate about the learning experience you are crafting.
2. I will use this space to SHARE around our practice...my practice especially. I want to learn alongside everyone and as we grow OUR practice, I intend to document my learning here. This includes my mis-steps, mistakes and epic fails...
3. Finally, this blog will become a place where we all begin to question. As we PUZZLE around new learning, we ask important questions. Some days, this space may just be a series of questions because I certainly don't know it all.
So, please, join the conversation! I'd like to invite you to respond in the comments below and respond to other people's responses. Or, strike up a conversation with someone on the playground or at the lunch table. I believe we learn from failures and grow through discourse; it is at these times we call on our principles to remind us who we are and to push us forward. I also believe we need each other.
All the best to all of you,
Faith

What an innovative way for us to connect!
ReplyDeleteI appreciate having a space to help us come together for sharing joys and for support.
ReplyDeleteI agree with this as I too believe we need each other to learn and grow to our full potential.
DeleteI agree that many learning experiences
ReplyDeletecome from failures! BTW...LOVE the " Principal's Principles"!
Looking forward to learning together along this new path for Hillcrest.
ReplyDeleteThank you for starting this! I will just come out and admit to not being able to figure out how to sign up to participate. I've spent over an hour on several occasions "clicking around", but to no avail. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks for your patience with my learning curve. 😊
